B.S. in Secondary Education – Social Studies, minor in Music, from Kansas State University (2008)
M.A. in Sociology from University of Colorado Denver (2014)
Sociology 3700: Institutions & Society
Sociology 3010: Social Problems
My research is on the working class of World War I era Kansas City. My interest is in exploring the institutional context for militant activities that crossed gender, race, and craft lines. The project will contribute to our understanding of general strikes in American labor history. I love historical sociology for the possibilities it opens up for theorizing social conflict, social process, institutional contradictions, and temporality. My two areas of emphasis are social inequalities and political economy, power, and movements. I am also working on a graduate minor in Women’s and Gender Studies.
I am originally from Lee’s Summit, Missouri. I lived in Denver for a few years, and still miss the rejuvenate zephyrs and chinooks of the front range. I love listening music and being on mountains.
